In what I thought was a ridiculous attempt to become an Olympic sport, (and what was probably a waste of members money) we wont see Gridiron in Tokyo in 2020.

IOC president Thomas Bach said back in February  said “broad international representation” is required if any sport want to join the Olympics, and gridiron just does not have that.

The eight shortlisted federations for 2020 are: baseball/softball, bowling, karate, roller sports, sport climbing, squash, surfing and wushu. Japan loves Baseball, I think one sport we will see is baseball and softball back in the Olympics after it was dumped after 2008 in China.

IFAF need to get back to basics when it comes to the growth of the sport across the globe, formed in 1998 and headquartered in La Courneuve, France IFAF appears to be a rudderless ship from my corner of the world.

The upcoming World Cup has had nothing but problems since it was announced with only 7 nation’s taking part of the 71 member nation’s that IFAF claim.

I hope the world cup is a success for the players competing but IFAF need to lift its game.
