About 6 months ago the Ladies Gridiron League (LGL) held a Tri-Nations tournament at at Melbourne’s State Netball and Hockey Centre where New Zealand was the winner defeating the USA in the final.

Some time ago the LGL announced that they have done a deal with Foxtel channel Aurora to broadcast the LGL and that time has arrived.

On Sunday the 5th of July on Aurora which is Foxtel Channel 183 will show the Preliminary Matches from the tri-nations tournament at 9pm and the following Sunday at the same time Aurora will broadcast the final.

I am sure you are saying who is the Ladies Gridiron League…. I thought it was the Legends Football League (LFL). Back in late 2014 Mitch Mortaza (founder of the LFL) announced the cancellation of the 2014 LFL season less than two weeks before the season was due to start. Mortaza sited the lack of a television partner as the reason for the season being cancelled.

As you can imagine the players, coaches and administrators of the LFL were not happy that their season was cancelled at the last minute so most of them joined the Australian based LGL.

At this stage there has not been a season run by the LGL involving its 6 announced teams so you will have to watch this space to see if the Australian public will get a chance to support this league.
