His name is Kane Latham. Latham, Massachusetts is where Jerry Seinfeld and his friends were found guilty of violating the then-unknown “Good Samaritan Law” and sentenced to one year in prison. Was Kane somehow involved? Probably. But we won’t hold that against him when judging the accuracy of his predictions for Week 10 of Gridiron Victoria’s Division 2 season.

Northern Raiders (2nd place, 4-2) v Gippsland Gladiators (5th place, 2-4)

Last time they met: Raiders 14, Gladiators 13

Last time they met, it was a hard hitting, close affair. Since then, the Raiders have gathered momentum and their big hitting, bone crunching defense has really started to hit its straps. The Gladiators have performed admirably with their low numbers, putting decent scores on the board and being more than competitive. I expect this game to go a lot different to round one, with the key being the Offensive Line of the Gladiators trying to protect their QB and ball carriers. I expect #55 from Northern Raiders to be a handful once again, and do some damage.

My prediction: Raiders 30, Gladiators 6

Pakenham Silverbacks (3rd place, 4-3) v Monash Barbarians (4th place, 4-3)

Last time they met: Silverback 24, Barbarians 14

Fresh off the bye, and the Silverbacks keen to get back on the winners list, this should be a great game, between two evenly matched teams looking to lock up a playoff spot.

My prediction: The food at the USA Day celebrations will be the real winner. Or the people eating the food. It will be a food related victory.

Jamie Stafford

Tina Fey-loving current starting QB (at least until Richie gives me the hook) of the Croydon Rangers in Gridiron Victoria, as well as the Head Coach of the Croydon Rangers women's team. I once got my hair washed by a total stranger in a Subiaco salon at 5am while playing for the 2004 Victorian team. That was a good day.
