The Gridiron SA weekend kicked off with the Port Adelaide Spartans (0-3) taking on the Southern District Oilers (0-2) both teams were looking for their first win of the season.

The Spartans opened the scoring thanks to a 21 yard run by Aaron Nassaris on a toss play giving Port Adelaide a 6-0 lead at half time. It was a mistake-ridden first half and both teams had chances to score points, despite Port Adelaide’s clear dominance of the matchup they only lead 6-0.

The Spartans took control of the game in the second half as Nassaris added a second touchdown and Port Adelaide sealed the game when Volar scored on a 1 yard dive with 2 minutes remaining giving them a 18-0 win.

In the second game of the day Adelaide Uni (3-0) were looking to stay undefeated as they took on the South City Chiefs (1-1). The Chiefs jumped out to a 6-0 lead at quarter time but AU took control of the match with three 2nd-quarter touchdowns. The Chiefs fumbled twice inside their own 20 to hand the Hogs the lead, as the score at half time was 19-6.

In a game that felt closer than it was as both teams found the endzone in the second half but Jordan Blanco sealed the game with a 70-yard pick 6. Adelaide Uni running out victors 33-14.
