I am Daniel Noonan, and each week I will be ranking the GV teams from top to bottom, not necessarily in the order, they appear on the ladder, but where I feel they sit in the scheme of things for genuine championship contention.

Week 7 Results

[event_blocks 25442]

So it seems I was back doing what I do best last week, and that isn’t being good at football. Apparently, it is writing cheques on the internet that I can’t cash on the football field. This week, I might as well continue on the same path considering last week’s article was my most read ever!!

1. Western Crusaders (3-0, +81 in Net Points) Same Spot as Last Week

Soundly dispatched their bogey team over the last few years in the Melbourne Uni Royals. It seems that on a correctly marked field the Western Crusaders are a tough opponent.

2. Monash Warriors (2-1, +74 in Net Points)  Same Spot

As predicted the Warriors came out firing and whipped the Predators to the tune of 50-0. The Warriors looked strong in all phases of the game, although an injury which occurred to star Running Back Luke Jackson in the 1st Quarter will have them worried. My paparazzi stateside snapped this shot of occasional Warrior Heath Decker (who has somehow already qualified for finals even though we have only played 3 games) signing the Warriors team sheet this week.

3. Croydon Rangers (2-1, -8 in Net Points) Same Spot

Jordan Beck must have taken offense (get it?) to me saying that Importy McImport face was carrying the offence for the Croydon Rangers. He ran all over the Buccaneer defence until the second quarter, when he left the field injured. The Ranger offensive line still seems to be all that is standing in the way between them and another strong title tilt. Starting Tommy Kinloch at Left Tackle cannot be the long term answer, purely because at his advanced age I’m not sure he has a long time left to live.

 4. Melbourne Uni Royals (1-2, -28 in Net Points) Same Spot

Welcome to the club Royals: The club of teams who have been blown out by the Cru. Every week I’m told the Royals are “close” and just need to stop making mistakes. But maybe they are the Antonio Cromartie of GV, and will look back at the end of the year and think “How did I end up broke and with 12 children to 9 different mothers”. Or in other words “how did we waste another year of being a talented team.”

5. Geelong Buccaneers (1-2, -2928373783 less another 10 in Net Points) Same Spot

“The Buccaneers beat the Croydon Rangers 6-0 this week and are back in form!!!!” That’s what I would be saying if we didn’t play the 1st Half of the game. Unfortunately, GV rules dictate that we must actually use the scores from all 4 quarters.  The Buccs fought valiantly again but are lacking the overall talent they have had in previous years. They have major concerns in the trenches on both sides and are developing two new QB’s on offence which has to keep Head Coach Bowe up late at night.

6. South Eastern Predators (0-3, -78 in Net Points) Same Spot

The Predators were in the wrong place at the wrong time, coming up against the Warriors after their loss to the Rangers.  The Preds showed fight on and off the field, with a near all in brawl starting on their sideline with a Warriors player after a late hit. QB Jesse Sporton needs some help from his receiving core if they are to notch a victory this year.
