I was ready to move them down a spot when the Royals shut out the Warriors for the first time, then Sunday came and a 42-0 victory over the Predators shot that thinking down. Maybe not a physical team like the Royals but their skills are amazing thanks to some excellent coaching.
Melbourne University Royals 2 ⇔ 2
A shut out of the Warriors couldn’t even move them into the number 1 spot. The only way that is happening is if the Crusaders lose a game before they face off in week 12, or if they can knock them off that week.
Monash Warriors 3 ⇔ 3
Not a shock loss to the Royals by but more of a shock that they were completely shut out.
Croydon Rangers 4 ⇔ 4
The week off doesn’t see them move anywhere. Huge game against the Crusaders this week. A victory would see them jump to 3rd.
Geelong Buccaneers 5 ⇑ 6
A big win over 6th placed Ballarat sees them jump up a spot in the rankings.
South Eastern Predators 6 ⇓ 5
A huge loss to the Crusaders and also lost a key player for the remainder of the year. A few other injuries will test their resolve.
Bendigo Dragons 7 ⇑ 8
A huge win over the Silverbacks, although they got scored on twice, something the Silverbacks have struggled to do since week 1. Did enough to warrant the jump up.
Northern Raiders 8 ⇓ 7
Couldn’t do much about this. They can fix it with a big victory this week.
Ballarat Falcons 9 ⇔ 9
Taught a lesson by the Buccaneers. Struggled in the conditions and had a few issues with player numbers.
Melton Wolves 10 ⇑ 11
Got their 2nd victory in a shoot out with the Barbs. The running game was solid and the Defense limited the damage on the ground.
Monash Barbarians 11 ⇓ 10
Forced to take to the air for most of the game. Running game needs to improve.
Pakenham Silverbacks 12 ⇑ 13
They scored 2 TD’s against Bendigo despite giving up 52 points. Home games will see more players. Forfeits have been forgiven.
Peninsula Sharks 13 ⇓ 12
The inevitable has happened. Just bad timing to enter the comp this year but hey, what can you do?
