Yesterday (13th May 2015) the Sunshine Coast Council announced it will play host when Australia takes on New Zealand in a Under 19 World Cup Qualifier on July 11.
The venue will be Sunshine Coast Stadium (Pictured), a grass surface which normally sees Union, League and Soccer on the filed will now host a group of young hopefuls with their eyes set on a World Cup birth.
The Australian senior team may be headed off to its 3rd world championships later this year but the under 19 team has never made the World Cup following losses to New Zealand in 2010 and American Samoa in 2012.
The Australian team will be made up of players who competed in the under 19 national championships held in Perth over Easter when Queensland took out the championships with a 12 – 6 win over hosts Western Australia.
The winner of the 2015 World Cup Qualifier will go onto the Under 19 World Cup which will be held in Canton, Ohio in 2016.
Tickets are $10 adult and $5 concession with under 16s free.
