The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) football program will be having an Australian join its ranks when Joel Dixon makes it official and commits to the team. Dixon played at San Joaquin Delta College which is located in Stockton, California where he handled punting and kicking duties.
Dixon made the announcement on his Twitter and Facebook pages:
Ecstatic to write that I have been offered by UAB for 2016 and will be on my official visit next month. #UAB pic.twitter.com/hkDWQVJf8a

UAB play in East Division of Conference USA and play home games at Legion Field, which is located off-campus in Birmingham, Alabama.
At the end of 2014 season UAB announce it would be shutting down the Football program due to the rapidly increasing cost to field a competitive football team. On June 1, 2015 the football program was reinstated and would begin play as early as the 2016 season. On July 21, 2015 a UAB press release was sent out stating that UAB football would return in 2017.
Good Luck to Joel with his new team.
