Gridiron Victoria Mid-Year Review

We have now reached the half way point of the Gridiron Victoria season, and with each team now having played each other once, the pecking order in each division has started to emerge. From this weekend, the return matches will be played in the same order as the first 7 weeks, as the Championship games at Lakeside Stadium in October start to loom on the horizon.

At the half way point, there is a familiar look, with the reigning champions of each Division sitting atop the respective standings. Both the VicBowl Champion Croydon Rangers and Division 2 Champion Pakenham Silverbacks have put together fine seasons so far, with the Silverbacks looking especially impressive in running the table at 6-0.

In Division 1 the top four is rounded out by the always contending Monash Warriors, Western Crusaders and Geelong Buccaneers, with the fast-improving Melbourne Uni Royals just on the outside looking in.

In Division 2 the Silverbacks are being chased by the Bendigo Dragons, Monash Barbarians and Northern Raiders, with the Ballarat Falcons only finding themselves out of a potential playoff spot on a tie breaker.

As we head into the business end of the season, check out last weekend’s results below.
