The opening game of week 6 in Adelaide was between the Port Adelaide Spartans and the UniSA Eagles and it was a fascinating first half of football in blustery conditions.
Port Adelaide looked dominant for most of the first half on the back of a huge performance from the rushing game however, the Eagles rebounded with the wind at their back. Facing the wind, neither team has been able to get any passing game going, so the will come down to who utilises their quarter with the wind the best and the Spartans lead the Eagles 14-6 at half time.
In the second half the Spartans ignored the wind issues in the best possible manner by dominating on the ground, with Aaron Nassaris and Damian Volar tearing the Eagles apart behind a dominating offensive line. By the end of the game the scoreline flattered the Eagles, as UniSA managed to stop the Spartans on three separate redzone opportunities in the second half but the Spartains cruised to victory 30-6.
The second game saw the South City Chiefs take on the Southern District Oilers and the first half was all one-way traffic as the Chiefs took control of the match leading 22-0 at half time.
In the second half both teams were struggling with injuries but Matt Francisco was a standout for the Chiefs with two pick-6s helping his team to a comfortable win over the Oilers 42-0
