Looks like we have another Australian headed to the USA to punt this time in Indiana. Haydon Whitehead announced his intentions to play for the Indiana University Hoosiers from next season and will enroll in January.

Whitehead from Melbourne has been training with Nathan Chapman and John Smith of Prokick Australia to get ready for college football. Indiana plays in the Big 10 and has been a little starved of football success and went 6-6 in 2016 but has earned them a bowl bid against Utah where fellow Australian Mitch Wishnowsky is the punter and 2017 Ray Guy Award winner.

Whitehead gives the Hoosiers 16 commitments in the 2017 class. Whitehead made the announcement on his Facebook & Twitter page:

ProKick Australia also celebrated with Haydon:

Indiana had trouble in the punting game in the 2016 season as sophomore Joseph Gedeon finished 86th nationally with a 40.04-yard per punt average. Gedeon also had three punts blocked. One of new Hoosier head coach Tom Allen’s mission for the program is to get better on special teams.
