Australia and Bendigo native Sam Irwin-Hill has been signed by America’s team the Dallas Cowboys.
The signing was announced on twitter by DEC Management, Irwin-Hill a product out of Arkansas has been into NFL training camps before with the Colts but was unable to win the punting job.
In Dallas he will battle with incumbent punter Chris Jones who is going into the final year of his contract. Jones has beaten out another Australia in Tom Hornsey in the past for the punting role in big D so Irwin-Hill has a big job ahead of him.
He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2015, and also spent time with them during the 2016 offseason.
Irwin-Hill has been back working with Nathan Chapman of Pro Kick Australia getting ready for another shot at the NFL.
This signing comes just days before the NFL draft when another Australia Cam Johnston from Ohio State hopes to hear his name called during the 3 days of the NFL Draft.
Proud to say I’m a Dallas Cowboy!
