It’s finally here after a 2-year hiatus. Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?
All games are played at Hendy Street Corio. Saturday January 15th.
The Bendigo Dragons have also loaned some players to the Royals, Warriors and Crusaders. Good luck to them at their temporary homes.
GAME 1 – 10:30am
Western Crusaders V Melbourne University Royals
GAME 2 – 2pm
Warriors Gridiron Club V Croydon Rangers
The Warriors have been a strong club for a very long time. Rumour is they lost a few players to the neighbouring Predators, so we will see how much of an impact that has.. A new QB means a new era at the Warriors. If you want to see Dom Dearman in a Warriors uniform again, you will need to watch the opening of the weekly highlights video. The 2 years off might see a resurgence at running back for Luke Jackson. Not that he had a down 2019.
Croydon have a new coach in John Leijten. John has a wealth of experience and should be a great addition on the sidelines. With a number of new players having never played a snap of football before, it will be interesting to see how quickly they pick it up. Another team with a new QB and like many, questions at OL. Angry man Mark Doyle will lead the Defense with LB Adam Kolinski.
GAME 3 – 530pm
Geelong Buccaneers V South Eastern Predators
A home Twighlight game for the Buccaneers down at Corio. Couldn’t have asked for a better opening schedule and will be hoping to start with a W. Not sure how well they have recruited so it will be interesting to see who is returning for another year. Player to watch is Tyler Powell who seems to be the X factor on Offense for the Bucs.
South Eastern Predators have been around for a little while now and yet to experience a Vic Bowl appearance. This could be where they show the rest of the League they can be a dominant force. A team with a solid Defensive Line and a good solid QB who can take over a game. Rumours are they have recruited very well. with a few ex Warriors heading over. I also can’t confirm or deny that some may have come from the Royals?
