IFAF have announced the 2023 Men’s IFAF World Championships have been cancelled, this is the second time in a row the men’s championships have be cancelled after the 2019 championships due to be played in Australia we also cancelled.
Following a risk assessment of the IFAF World Championship that were scheduled for 2023 IFAF confirmed that the event will move to 2025, meaning it will be 10 years between events with Canton, Ohio being the last event back in 2015.
In December 2021, IFAF announced that Germany would replace Australia as hosts of the rescheduled 2023 IFAF World Championship after the scheduled Australia tournament was cancelled.
IFAF Director of Competitions Roope Noronen said ‘As we plan for major championships, especially those which take place over a length of time, it is vital that nations have certainty. The global economic climate makes this a time of uncertainty. As such, having conducted a full risk assessment with our partners, we believe it to be prudent to move the event to 2025 and we will start discussions with AFVD immediately.’
IFAF has announced it will work with the German federation about hosting the 2025 chanpionships.
