Three Australian’s saw action in week one of the NFL. Jordan Berry was the first in action in the Thursday Night opening game of the 2015 season when his Steelers took on the Patriots.

Berry was only called upon twice to punt but was the holder on field goals and extra points. If you watched the game you would have seen that Steelers kicker Josh Scobee missed two field goals early in the game, it was unclear to me if the hold was bad or good.

Brad Wing had his first hit out with his new team the New York Giants in the Sunday night game against the Dallas Cowboys. Wing had a good night with 3 inside 20s on his 4 punts unfortunately for Wing the Giants went down 26-27 to the Cowboys.

Jarryd Hayne was a part of the 46 and suited up for the Monday night double header he as a part of a 20-3 win over the Vikings.

He could not have got off to a worse start when he fumbled the opening punt from Minnesota and lost the ball. Lucky for Hayne the fumble did not lead to direct points for the Vikings, but he was removed from the return duties for the rest of the game. Hayne did not read the ball well and probably should have called for a fair catch once he realised he had not judged the flight correctly.

When Reggie Bush went down hurt the 49ers turned to Carlos Hyde to carry the extra load not Jarryd Hayne, as Hayne finished the night with 5 touches for 20 yards.

The drop by Hayne will not help his stock with the 49ers but if Bush is out for a few weeks they will need Hayne to help in the running game over the next few weeks.
