Week 7 Division 2 Power Rankings

1. Northern Raiders (5-1) Same Power Ranking

Shout out to the boys in the North. This week sees the Raiders raise money and gain awareness for Prostate Cancer. Is this an attempt to atone for some sins? To right some wrongs? I don’t think so. Perhaps simply expecting more from a usual local sporting club. Good to see.
As far as football goes, I’ve mentioned before about the injuries. That proved to be relevant for the first 2 quarters against the Crusaders, however, the cream rose to the top and all was right in the world again through a comprehensive result.

2. Ballarat Falcons (4-2) Up 1 Power Ranking

De-Fault. Two of the best words in the dictionary. Coming off the bye week, the Falcons move up in the Power Rankings purely by default. I do not think you’re the second best team. Period. But through circumstances I can’t control, you are second.

3. Melton Wolves (4-2) Down 1 Power Ranking

Each and every week, when writing Melton’s Power Rankings I have to draw on Melton’s main source of Power. Unfortunately, that source has damaged his hamstring and I’m left wondering what power they have left. Melton without Krul is like Sesame Street without Oscar the grouch. Yeah, essentially it’s still the same but you are left with a garbage can full of trash.
Do I mean that? No, but it sounded great!
The reality though is whether the back up can step up and whether this defense is as good as I’ve stated at the start of the year. With how close the game was against an undermanned Casey Cardinia United, I fear it could be a few ugly weeks.

4. Monash Barbarians (3-2-1) Same Power Ranking

Isn’t it just typical? After all, we’ve been through. After every article. I end up being elevated into QB1 against you. On top of that, we come a draw. Great.
But it was great to see you guys first hand and get a true assessment of what you have going on. Clean blitzes, solid pay calling and a Quarterback with some wheels. After the weekend, I’ve got to upgrade my Stuart Little comparison to Speedy Gonzalez. Short but quick! Constantly testing outside contains.
Mo-nash at Number 4.

5. Western Crusaders II (3-3) Same Power Ranking

I don’t have much to say about CRU 2 this week except tell Josh Meldrum to tuck his jersey in, it looks awful untucked.
Looking ahead to this week, this could be a testament game for the Cru. The outside runs vs good outside linebackers play at CCU will test the versatility of the Cru offence. And how recent results have recently fallen, this could be the match of the round for division 2. Time to prove yourselves Cru 2.

6. Bendigo Dragons (1-4-1) Same Power Ranking

I don’t know what is funnier, watching last night’s episode of Rick and Morty or Prince in at Quarterback. Shot put, Discuss, Javelin….anything but throwing spirals……
But despite this Ill-fortuned adjustment, the Dragons defence and special teams took a big step up this week. Two safeties in the first half that setup a 14 point turn around in the second half, their defense showed some of the flares that last years number 1 defense once had. Big game against the Raiders this week, please put Elliston back in under center and it might be a good game.

7. Casey Cardinia United (0-6) Same Power Ranking

Another week, another lo…….wait one second. Sometimes, writing these pieces I feel like I’m just going through the motions. Yes, CCU lost but they sure surprised the hell out of me. Undermanned and out gunned, they sure put some shockwaves through the league by taking it to the highly fancied Wolves. Despite the injury to the Wolves Quarterback, many in the league wouldn’t be sure of CCU’s strikers ability to kick some goals however they had 20 in the back of the net at full time.
Throw in some positivity and I’ll be keen to see who else they can surprise in the second half of the year. But where do those good vibes come from?

Author’s Extra.
Can I buy a Quarterback? Division 2 Quarterbacks are dropping like flies this year. Raiders, Wolves, Dragons all have had significant lay-offs for their starters. It poses 1 big question, is skill development being supported? Are our back ups QB’s suitable and ready? Are our OLineman not good enough to protect them? Or is it simply that Dlineman are the best position in Division 2? (nah I don’t think so)
The real question is……how do we get better?

'The Councillor'

I'm that guy that sucks but wants to be apart of the team so he plays Kicker. Constant injuries means I have time for various community things and to run for local council. So if you could move to Bendigo before October you would be doing me a big favor, thanks!
