Womens Queensland Sundevils

Gridiron West have won the right to host the 1st truly national women’s tournament to be played in Perth. The Women’s Australian Gridiron Leauge has been played twice before in 2016 & 2014 with Gridiron Queensland winning both tournaments but both events were far from national tournaments.

In 2016 only the Gridiron Queensland and Gridiron NSW took part in the WAGL with the Sundevils taking out all three games in very convincing fashion. In 2014 Gridiron Queensland defeated the ACT 14-6 in the final to secure the initial championship.

Gridiron Australia has made the call to run an “In Camp” format for the WAGL or what we think should be simply called the 2018 Women’s National Championships to be held between the 28th of May and the 4th of June in Perth.

We would expect to see all states with a women’s competition take part in the tournament, QLD, NSW, ACT the returning to Gridiron Australia the Victorian Eagles and the newly formed Gridiron West competition as host will also enter a team.

Good Luck to all states, we will bring the schedule of games when it is announced and full coverage of the tournament during the event.
