October 19, 2019Peninsula Sharks v Bendigo Dragons9:30 amMacPherson Park Recreation Reserve

Peninsula Sharks (0-8) 13th Forfeit to Bendigo Dragons (3-5) 7th

3rd Forfeit for the Sharks. They should probably look to start recruiting now for the 2020 season.

October 19, 2019Western Crusaders v Monash Barbarians10:30 amHenry Turner Reserve

Western Crusaders (8-0) 1st V Monash Barbarians (3-5) 9th

Might as well just hand the trophy to the Crusaders now. This will be another 60+ point victory for the all conquering Crusaders.

The Barbs will be happy for a hit out after the forfeit by the Sharks last week. Technically the Barbs could jump up to 8th with a win………yeah I don’t think so.

PREDICTION – Crusasders 68 Barbarians 0

October 19, 2019Melbourne University v Monash Warriors2:00 pmHenry Turner Reserve

*****GAME OF THE WEEK*****

Melbourne University Royals (7-1) 2nd V Monash Warriors (7-1) 3rd

So the Royals lost a coach before kickoff last week. It will be interesting to see what kind of effect this will have on the team.

This is the perfect opportunity for the Warriors to solidify themselves in 2nd spot. After seeing the Royals lose the plot last week, I see the Warriors knocking them off as they did in last years playoffs.

PREDICTION – Warriors 24 Royals 20

October 19, 2019Ballarat Gridiron v Melton Wolves2:00 pmMacPherson Park Recreation Reserve

Ballarat Falcons (3-5) 8th V Melton Wolves (2-6) 10th

The 2nd best game of the week see’s the battle of the Western Highway.

The Falcons have the slight edge in this rivalry with a record of 3-2 and have the chance to extend that winning record. The Falcons have been the better side offensively scoring points in pretty much all their games so far.

The Wolves have now lost 6 straight and are having troubles on both sides of the ball. The QB situation looks to be settled for now. All that is needed is a more consistent passing game and pass defense.

The Falcons to win in a tough physical battle. James Stephens will have a day out passing.

PREDICTION – Falcons 30 Wolves 18

October 19, 2019Geelong Buccaneers v Croydon Rangers5:30 pmHendy Street Reserve

Geelong Buccaneers (7-2) 4th V Croydon Rangers (6-2) 5th

The Buccs look to be the 6th best side (See Power Rankings) for 2019. Another loss here will see them drop to at least 6th spot on the table.

The Rangers have been wanting a more high powered offense to go up against leading into the Playoffs. The Buccs are close enough to what they are looking for.

Rangers to get another W on the board.

PREDICTION – Rangers 34 Buccaneers 16

October 20, 2019South Eastern Predators v Northern Raiders5:30 pmDR Atkinson Reserve

South Eastern Predators (6-3) 6th V Northern Raiders (1-8) 12th

Pencil in another win for the Predators when they take on the injury depleted Raiders.

The Predators had the ball moved against their defense last week so they will be eager to shut out the Raiders.

PREDICTION – Predators 64 Raiders 0

NOTE – # = CURRENT RANKING – ( ) = LAST WEEK’s RANKING

WESTERN CRUSADERS 1 – (1)

Hand them the trophy now.

CROYDON RANGERS 2 – (3)

The only club to keep the Crusaders under 30 points.

MELBOURNE UNI ROYALS 3 – (2)

Lose a coach, lose the game and lose a ranking.

MONASH WARRIORS 4 – (4)

A win over the Royals will see them swap places.

SOUTH EASTERN PREDATORS 5 – (5)

Did what was expected last week. This week should see more of the same. Until they beat a team above them, this is their place.

GEELONG BUCCANEERS 6 – (6)

Stuck in the middle and will more than likely remain here for the rest of 2019.

BENDIGO DRAGONS 7 – (7)

Jekyll and Hyde season so far.

BALLARAT FALCONS 8 – (8)

This club could be something if they could just get more numbers on the sideline.

MONASH BARBARIANS 9 – (9)

Not much to say really.

MELTON WOLVES 10 – (10)

Lose 7 in a row and this club will need to start asking themselves questions. Especially after acquiring their caliber of Head Coach.

PAKENHAM SILVERBACKS 11 – (11)

See Barbarians.

NORTHERN RAIDERS 12 – (12)

See Barbarians and Silverbacks.

PENINSULA SHARKS 13 – (12)

See Barbarians, Silverbacks and Raiders.
