Gridiron West Week 5 Preview

Saturday, November 5th– Anniversary Park– 2:00 pm

  • Broncos (2-1) vs. Vipers (3-0)

This game will be a rematch of last years championship game. The Vipers dominated this game and I expect a similar result this weekend. The Broncos seem to have things figured out defensively but are still finding themselves offensively. The Vipers on the other hand have been fairly dominant in their 3 opening wins behind new quarterback Torren Honda and running back by committee of thunder in Nate Landsdell and lightning from Sir Johnson. I feel like the best is still ahead for the Viper team as they mesh from this point forward. It’s also impossible to teach championship pedigree. Instead of griping over their dominance ; I encourage the rest of the league to rise to the challenge of such a well run club. You don’t win championships by accident.

Ty’s Prediction: Sir Johnson and Durrell Ramsey’s 4th team since they came to OZ versus their 2nd team. One time for the 916. Vipers 28 Broncos 6

Saturday, November 5th – Forrest Reserve Padbury– 3:15 pm

  • Wolverines (0-4) vs. Steelers (1-1-1)

Both these teams seem on the verge of finding out if they can stay in contention. Not much separation talent wise between the bottom 4 teams. This game should be a low-scoring, close game. These teams main struggles up to this point have been a consistent passing attack. The Steelers look to rebound off a tough loss and find their form from earlier in the year. The Wolverines should stick to their guns with a solid zone read attack. Earlier in the year the Steelers ran the ball down the Jets throats with guards able to open up large running lanes. Last week however, they seemed to give up on the run altogether.

Ty’s Prediction: Steelers run the ball and play good defense. Steelers 12 Wolverines 8

Saturday, November 5th– Anniversary Park – 6:45 pm

  • Saints (4-0) vs. Jets (1-2)

Which version of the Jets will show up Saturday night? The team who played with the powerhouse Viper club or the one who lost to the undermanned Steeler team. This team has talent with players such as McCann, Miller and Greenshields playing the skill positions. All of which are capable of big plays. They are up against a tough Saints team who have only allowed 6 points through the first 4 games. Coming on a last minute touchdown against the Wolverines. The Saints have also found success on offense with Running back Doug Stewart bowling his way to a 5 td performance last week. The Saints are also a threat through the air as “big armed” QB Justin Sottilare loves to find his top receiver Luke Hegney.

Ty’s Prediction: Hopefully Cody Miller will still drive me home after the game. You’re welcome for the bulletin board material. Saints 34 Jets 8

**Perth Blitz (0-3-1) have the Bye this week
