We have been spoilt by the weather so far. Unfortunately, due to last week’s floods, a game had to be forfeited and it doesn’t look much better this weekend coming.

The Bendigo Dragons unfortunately had to forfeit their game against the Cru 2 side. With floods devastating Central Victoria during the week, the Dragons sensibly decided that helping clean up was far more important than any football game.

The Crusaders first side took on the Warriors out at Melton. The Crusaders hadn’t been tested so far this season and by half time, it looked like it was going to be another big winning margin. To the Warriors credit, they fought back from the 32-point half time deficit, to score 2 times and hold the Cru to just the one TD in the 2nd half.

Over in Croydon, in the Live streamed match, the Croydon Rangers contested a shootout with the South Eastern Predators. 79 points were scored in this match up with the Rangers holding on for their 2nd win. They now sit 2-1 while the Predators have the same record.

The last game in Melton had the home team Wolves, playing visitor this time to the Northern Raiders. The Raiders shot out of the blocks scoring 3 TD’s in the first quarter., all from passes from QB Michael Nebauer. The Wolves pegged one back thanks to a short run by former LB turned QB Luke Sackl. Shortly after a Safety was scored by the defense and the score was now 18-10.

That’s the closest the Wolves got with the Raiders Offense, especially WR Julian Cauchi (3 TD’s), who was using the Wolves DB’s as witches’ hats, took over the game. WR Jackson Jensen (2 TD’s) also proved hard to contain. The Raiders only converted one 2 point try and ran out easy victors 44-10.

WEEK 4 Previews

3 games are being played on 2 fields out at Corio and the weather doesn’t look like it’s going to be enjoyable. The other will be played in Reservoir on Sunday.

Melton Wolves will take on the Cru 2 for the second time in 4 weeks. last time the Cru made easy work of the Wolves, who seem to struggle in most aspects of the game. Cru 2 should find another W, but if it’s really wet…….don’t discount a fumble fest and a closer result than last time. Cru 2 to win 36-6.

The Western Crusaders and South Eastern Predators will face off. Despite scoring plenty of points in the first 3 weeks, the Preds will find it much tougher going against the stingy Crusader defense. This will be one sided with a 46 to 6 score line.

At the same time on the opposite field, we hope to see the Bendigo Dragons taking on the Warriors. The Warriors should get their 2nd victory of the year with a 48-0 score in this one.

Finally on Sunday, a rejuvenated Raiders play host to the Rangers. The Rangers should hold on in this one and go to 3-1. Scoreboard will show Rangers 38 – Raiders 18 at the final whistle.

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe!!!
